How to Transfer Contacts From iPhone to PC Using Itunes

Contacts are an essential part of our daily life communication, either professional or friendly. Sometimes we tend to lose our phone contacts due to a change of phone or any software issue caused in the phone.

At that time, we realize how vital those contacts were, and we should have created a backup beforehand to tackle such a situation. But don’t worry, it has happened to me once, and I know nothing hurts more, but better late than never.

Now you are here to learn how to export contacts from your iPhone to the PC or Mac. So let’s begin with the process. It is pretty straightforward but can take up to an hour to fully backup your device, including the contacts.

Exporting Contacts By Using Itunes

You may be familiar with iTunes if you are an apple user. Then you might also know that you cannot export the contacts individually by using iTunes. So we are going to create a backup for the entire phone using iTunes now.

To export your contacts and back up all other data of your iPhone, you need to follow these steps

  1. Go to google and install the latest version of iTunes. Once you are done, launch the Itunes app on your Pc on which you want to create a backup.
  2. Now, use a USB cable, preferably the one that came with the iPhone, and connect it with the computer.
  3. Now, wait for iTunes to detect and connect to your iPhone automatically.
  4. Your device will now be discoverable in the devices tab. Click on it and then go into the Summary option.
  5. On the right-hand screen, you will see the Backups panel. Here you will choose the option ‘My computer’ because you will create a backup on this device.
  6. Now click on the Backup Now button, and iTunes will start exporting your contacts and all other information.
  7. It may take some time, even an hour. Once it’s done, it will automatically create a backup file on your PC.

Another thing is if you have already added some contacts to your iTunes library, you will be able to export them individually. For that purpose, you need to click on the device name. If your contacts are available in your iTunes library, you will see an info tab above.

Here you can find the option of exporting contacts. Firstly sync your contacts with windows contacts and then export in CSV to create a copy on your computer.

It is recommended that you create a complete backup of your iPhone so if anything happens, you have everything ready to start from where you left.

Exporting Contacts by Using iCloud

If your iTunes doesn’t work, then you can use iCloud to transfer your contacts. Follow the below-mentioned steps to do so.

  1. In your iPhone’s settings, Go to the iCloud Tab. Here you will see the Contacts option. Click on the button in front of it to switch on the sync.
  2. Once it is synced. Launch the iCloud application on your selected PC. You need to switch the sync on here too.
  3. Now go to iCloud’s official website to do the rest. When you go there, Go to the contacts section. You can see all the contacts that have been synced from your device.
  4. You can manually choose which contacts to export, or you can even select all at once. Now click the settings icon on the bottom left side and click on the ‘Export vCard’ option.
  5. It will create a copy of all the chosen contacts on your PC. You can also transfer these contacts from one device to another.
